Questions/Answers on Mobile Clinic Implementation

1. What is the status of the new mobile clinic?

The unit is complete and housed at Animal Rescue Konsortium (ARK).

2. What services will be available in the mobile clinic?

While a key priority will be performing spay/neuter procedures on dogs and cats, we will also provide basic wellness services such as vaccinations, microchipping, heartworm and leukemia testing, etc.

3. When will ARK begin performing spay/neuter services using this unit?

We recently hired a veterinarian who will begin performing services in late June, early July. We will be deliberate with the implementation which means during the implementation phase (the first 2-3 months) the volume of animals served will be relatively low as we need to ensure everything works as planned. After that start-up period, we expect to perform 50-100 surgeries weekly as well as vaccinations and other wellness services.

4. What is the estimated cost to have a dog or cat spayed/neutered?

We currently estimate the average cost for cats will be $65 for males and $75 for females and dogs will average (based on size/weight and breed) $130 for males and $180 for females. These prices include the cost for rabies vaccinations if needed, pain medications and E-collars.

5. Because this is a low-cost service, do you validate income of the owner?

No, we do not. We do; however, encourage people to use our services if affordability is a challenge and cannot afford private veterinary services.

6. When can we start scheduling spay/neuter services?

Please email (arksaves@gmail.com) or call Animal Rescue Konsortium (386-559-4610) to discuss scheduling or ask questions about services offered and placed on our waitinglist.

7. What days of the week will you be offering spay and neuter services?

We do not yet know the precise days as that will depend on availability of veterinarians and days of greatest interest to pet owners. Once available, we will publish available days on ARK’s website, arksaves.com, and other channels, similar to how we notify the public of available clinic days for vaccinations and testing.

8. Will you require a deposit when scheduled? If so, how much?

Yes, we ask for a deposit of 50% when scheduled.

9. Will you perform spay/neuter on community cats through TNR?

After the implantation phase, we plan to develop a TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate and return) program to begin addressing the needs of communitycats.

If you are interested in participating during the TNVR phase, since the goal would be to provide support throughout the county, please let us know by emailing us at arksaves@gmail.com.

10. Will communications on services offered be available in both English and Spanish?

Yes, we do plan to develop all of our key written communications in both languages.

11. Will you be coordinating communications as needed with Putnam County Animal Services so that they know what to advise callers on available services and timeframes?

Yes, we do plan to keep in close contact with them so that they can respond to questions they may receive about ARK’s services and viceversa.

12. Do you have some initial locations in the county where you plan to provide mobile services?

Yes, we are looking into a few key locations during the early phase of implementation – Palatka (at the Animal Services location); SAFE animal rescue in Hollister to serve Interlachen pet owners and the ARK facility in Crescent City to serve south Putnam pet owners. All locations and timeframes will be published on ARK’s website, arksaves.com, through key leaders and groups such as municipality commissions and clerks of court offices, etc.
